R. C. Patel Institute of Technology (RCPIT), Shirpur was established in 2021 with the vision of developing future-ready professionals capable of shaping the intelligent systems of tomorrow. The department offers an undergraduate program that focuses on blending the principles of computer science with modern advancements in AI, machine learning, data analytics, and computational intelligence.
Coined in 1956 by John McCarthy, Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to systems capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. The scope of AI has expanded significantly in recent years due to the explosive growth of data, advancements in algorithms, and increased computing power. Machine Learning (ML), a core subset of AI coined by Arthur Samuel in 1959, enables computers to learn and improve from experience without being explicitly programmed.
Today, AI is revolutionizing industries such as healthcare, education, transportation, agriculture, retail, and communication. According to industry leaders and analysts, AI is set to transform the global economy, creating unprecedented opportunities across all sectors. Market reports estimate the global AI software market will exceed $126 billion by 2025, and the machine learning market is projected to grow from $7.3 billion in 2020 to $30.6 billion in 2024.
In response to this emerging landscape, the department at RCPIT ensures that students receive a well-rounded education in AI principles, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, robotics, ethics in AI, and deployment of AI applications.
