Light Up Lives – Suicide Prevention, Awareness, and Mental Wellness Talk

The Department of Computer Engineering at R. C. Patel Institute of Technology organized a mental wellness session titled “Light Up Lives: Suicide Prevention, Awareness, and Mental Wellness Talk” on April 4, 2025. The session aimed to promote mental health awareness, encourage open conversations, and provide practical tools to help students manage emotional challenges. The event featured two expert speakers — Ms. Poonam Vishwakarma, a psychologist and special educator with six years of experience, and Ms. Puja D. Saraf, a meditation expert known for her free wellness sessions across all age groups. Their sessions covered psychological awareness, coping strategies, and mindfulness practices, offering attendees valuable insights into emotional well-being and suicide prevention. With participation from over 120 students and faculty members, the event created a safe and engaging environment for mental health dialogue. Coordinated under the guidance of Dr. R. B. Wagh and supported by Prof. Pallavi Agrawal and Dr. Vipul D. Punjabi, and student volunteers — Rajput Sanjeevani, Sonje Manasi, Shinde Mrunalini, Shaha Krisha, Gujrathi Sakshi — the event concluded successfully with positive feedback from attendees, encouraging more such wellness initiatives in the future.
